The location is great, less than two minutes from the town center, and the room is generously sized. Furniture is useful and well thought out, the bathroom is comfortable and somewhat updated, and the hotel provides the basics for a reasonable stay. I think the cleaning staff does their best. Still, the place feels shabby and run down, so staying here wasn't pleasant. Furniture, carpet, curtains, walls, and doors were stained. The sad beige walls and ceiling made an already dark room feel even darker. On the second floor the water pressure was poor, making showers unpleasant and unsatisfactory. The curtains left a sizable gap, so people outside could peek in. There's no elevator, and the poorly lit, off-camber stairs made us take extra care. The soap is tiny and doesn't last, so bring your own. The hotel badly needs a refresh. I wouldn't recommend it.

After flying in and driving over in our rental, our kids were exhausted, so arriving an hour early at 3 was an accident. Most places check in at 3, and I'd never had trouble staying somewhere early when the room was ready. The front desk said, "your room is ready but your an hour early, Ill let it slide this time," which felt weird and rude. I stayed five days over the x-mas break, but they don't clean rooms unless it's been at least two days and you ask. On day three, I called to ask what was happening. When I asked when I could request cleaning, the staff member said rudely, "preferably not on x-mas,'' since it was Christmas afternoon. I asked just for sheets so I could change them myself, because I had a baby with me and the sheets were dirty. She said, "never mind the house cleaner can do it." The house cleaner brought sheets, but one had a huge yellow stain. Later that night I found part of a fake eyelash in the other sheets. I don't wear fake eyelashes, and I was completely grossed out. It felt like they gave us dirty sheets. For the price, I won't stay again. If you don't mind rude comments and dirtiness, this place is for you.

And pack a bathrobe: the blinds don't cover the whole window, so the creepy guy across the street can watch you walk out of the bathroom and you can say hi. SUPER EXCITING UPDATE: The owner replied to my review for the first time! To me, it's pretty clear who is being deceptive. I put both posts into chatGBT to see what it said. Its conclusion was that the owner's response weakened their position by attacking my review history and not addressing the issues, while my sarcastic post seemed like a more plausible account of an actual customer experience. So dear Mr. Owner, if an AI can see through your BS, everyone else can too. Lol.

I got in kind of late two nights ago, and the young woman at the front desk was very nice and accommodating. She got me into my room really fast. No problems, a wonderful stay. The hotel was very quiet and extremely clean. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone traveling to a cascadero in the future. Five star
