Green Lake was a favorite spot for my family and friends back when Ida and John owned it. We went for 12 years and had the best Italian weekends, with homemade pizza, bread, pasta, and fresh vegetables right on the grounds. It breaks my heart that no family members took it over. Thanks for all the memories.
The kind, responsive people helped make up for what the place lacks in comfort. It's an okay spot to camp out if you're prepared to rough it. I went for a camp retreat at this facility run by the UPC NY District, and everything was well organized. The food was fine, with a good variety of cultural options each time, but don't expect luxury or a buffet. It's a basic but clean place. My room was neat, a decent size, the sheets were clean, and the air conditioner worked. The water was always cold, though, never hot. The pool and other rooms looked old, run down, and uncared for. The place needs a lot of work and some love.
The lake view was really calming, and the food was delicious. The people were friendly, and we had a great time. The services were a real surprise, though the place could use a little work.
Don't book without seeing it first. We drove up to look at the place for a wedding, and it was covered in garbage, from a mattress to bags of junk and broken toys. The lake and bridge were hard to recognize. We're not picky, but this wasn't what the website made it look like. Please look before booking.
Beautiful place for our Church Family Retreat. We had a good time, and the service was excellent.
