Quality Inn Athens I-65 / Huntsville Area West

We had cleaners bang on our door repeatedly even though we always had the do not disturb sign up. I keep it there because I don’t want anyone entering the room and potentially stealing from us or setting up a robbery. Then, while my partner was asleep, a Mexican guy came in to change the smoke detector. My buddy and I are working a shutdown, he works nights and I work days. On my day off I went out in the morning while he came in to sleep. He called to say he woke up to the guy standing on my bed in boots, with tools spread across it. That’s a clear invasion of privacy, and I doubt they were going to change my sheets after that. When we asked for a refund, the woman I assume is the owner’s wife was incredibly rude and kept interrupting us. The refund will take several business days, which leaves us strained in the meantime. I’d drive farther for a better hotel. The places around here seem to be run by greedy, nasty people.

We paid for a three-day extension and were charged, but then staff told us we hadn’t paid and ordered us out. We showed them the charge in our account, and they said they had charged us but never put it in the system. After all the confusion, we asked for a refund and were told it was in the account, but it wasn’t. The front desk said the manager didn’t know what to say, then told us to leave and that we weren’t welcome anymore. We were also charged $500 as a “security fee,” while the front desk and manager both said there was no such fee. The manager was rude and had a lot of attitude. We work nights from 6:30 pm to 6:30 am, and at 9:00 am, while we were sleeping, someone pounded on our door and yelled for us to open it immediately. Complete bs.

If I could give this a zero, I would. Every employee had a nasty attitude. An employee told us we could get a refund when we came back in the morning, but then said we couldn’t and claimed the room had been used. We weren’t in it for even 10 minutes, and nobody used the bathroom or anything. If we’d known there’d be no refund, we would’ve stayed. We paid $80 for nothing. I’m not staying somewhere where nothing works, whether it’s the remote or the TV. These rooms cost too much for things not to work.

The rooms are clean, and this was my second stay in one week. The problem was a pickup with a U-Haul parked right at the corner where you turn around the hotel, even though there was plenty of room elsewhere in the lot. I could barely squeeze through with my 350 pickup, and someone pulling a trailer wouldn’t have made it. I asked the front desk lady if she could contact the driver and ask them to leave more space. She said their room was right there and they don’t tell people where to park. I told her I’d barely made it through.
