On May 22nd-23rd, my arrival turned into a disgraceful mess. Two separate reservations were randomly cancelled, something that has never happened to me before. I was told the hotel only accepts bookings from “certain” third-party companies. If vendors send customers to the hotel, service should be provided. A front desk clerk, I believe her name was Felicia, even told me to stop being cheap. I waited at least an hour for a room, and when I finally got one, the previous guest's belongings were still there. I later learned they'd assigned me an occupied suite. As I headed back downstairs, the fire alarm went off and the room maintenance person and I had to evacuate. The whole thing was extremely inconvenient, disgraceful, and awful to witness. A customer was exploding at the front desk manager, or MOD, Preston, demanding her money back after she said she'd had to run down eight flights of stairs with her belongings. I understood her anger. I stayed patient and calm, but Preston came across as condescending and lackadaisical, with no sense of a hotel manager. I say that as a security officer who's worked at five-star hotels. God bless y'all, and be wary about spending money here.
When we arrived in Atlanta on October 10th around 3pm, the lobby was packed and the hotel was in chaos. The valets were cheerful and helpful, and although staff were clearly overwhelmed, they handled things with grace. The housekeeping company was badly understaffed, leaving clean rooms about five hours behind and delaying check-in. The hotel was also hosting The National Federation of the Blind for their 52nd annaual convention, with over 100 people with accessibility issues crammed into the lobby. I'm grateful to all the guests and staff who got through that weekend with smiles and love. Our rooms weren't updated, but they were clean, comfortable, and in a safe hotel in a fully booked Midtown. Then we found out the boiler wasn't working, so the whole hotel had cold showers for two days. I think the manager honestly expected the repair crew to have it fixed by morning, but they didn't. He had to find another company to come out on a Saturday, and it seems no one managed to get it working. He apologized and gave everyone breakfast vouchers, even though the problem was out of his control. The food was great and the wait staff even better. We came in with a few of my tribe members to see Nahko at Vinyl, embraced the problems like a family gathering, and we'll stay again.
I've stayed at the Crowne Plaza midtown for five years, and it's gotten worse every year. During my five days there in October, the thermostat didn't work, so I had no heat through a week-long cold front. The toilet leaked enough to soak the carpet, and after I moved rooms, the sink handle gasket leaked all over the sink whenever I used it. Worse, after the valet parked my rental car, I got two parking tickets in one night. I was in my room at the time, but only found out after I flew home, when the rental company charged my credit card four weeks later for the tickets. I tried to resolve it with the Crowne Plaza, but nobody answered the phone. I'll never stay or recommend this place again. Do better, CP Hotel. Your patrons deserve better. This is what happened to me on 5/21-5/22. Avoid the "CROWNE PLAZA ATLANTA MIDTOWN". It felt deceptive and unsafe, and was a mess. I booked on Trivago for a four-night trip with my wife and 10-month-old daughter. My confirmation said Crowne Plaza Midtown Atlanta by IHG, but after checking in around 9:45pm with my printed reservation, I was given a suite with broken AC. I went back down and got room 2212 on the 24th floor. That room had no working kitchen lights, and the balcony door could be pushed open from outside, a serious safety issue with a baby. On the third move we finally had a usable room, but it smelled strongly of latex and heavy cleaning chemicals. It was after 10:30pm, my baby was screaming, and I was done moving, so we stayed. Getting around the elevators was its own nightmare. They stopped at every floor because apparently only one or two ice machines worked in the whole 25-floor building, and people kept riding up and down looking for ice. By my fourth trip to the desk, near midnight, the lobby was chaotic. I saw maybe two people checking in and a line of guests with complaints out the door. Security looked terrified. Staff seemed to be doing their best, but were completely overwhelmed. This was a management failure. I had to call IHG because it was out of hand. That's when I learned the hotel was no longer part of IHG or Crowne Plaza. It had been sold and became the Peachtree Hotel Midtown Atlanta (Marriott) on January 2, 2026, yet months later Google, Trivago, and other sites were still advertising and booking it as a Crowne Plaza. The next morning, they comped breakfast for all the problems, but it closed at 9:30am instead of 11am as the website said. Staff told me to check the Marriot site, not crown plaza. My wife also found a large, lifelike adult toy under a rolling ottoman our baby had been pushing around. Thank God she spotted it first. I work from home and had a few meetings that morning, so I couldn't just leave. When I finally got a break, I called Marriott directly and was shocked by how little they cared. They offered to move us to another hotel at my expense and wouldn't refund me. Since I'd booked through a third party, I basically had to eat the cost of all four nights. I checked out right away, explained everything, including showing the photo, and the desk staff were stunned that I was leaving early. I rebooked somewhere else and finished my vacation. The property has serious maintenance issues, puts guests, including infants, at risk, and is still falsely listed under the Crowne Plaza name on major booking sites. Avoid it entirely. Share this so other families don't have the same nightmare. #CrownePlaza #Marriott #PeachtreeHotelMidtown #AtlantaHotel #TravelWarning #HotelFail #Atlanta #IHG
Tia was there before sunrise Saturday, serving guests at 5:30am with the same smile I saw when she was working again late Sunday night. My family and I were in town for Cheer Sport, and she made sure people were looked after and happy. You rarely meet someone with that kind of pride in hospitality. She’s a terrific bartender and brand ambassador, the sort of employee who makes you want to come back.
