Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Atlanta Buckhead

The room was clean, the bed comfortable, and the staff were great. It looked like the rooms had been renovated, and I liked the breakfast, with waffles, breakfast sandwiches, an omelet, oatmeal, and plenty of other choices. The hotel's in Buckhead, close to downtown, with plenty of parking. There's a $15 per night parking fee, listed on the property's website but not disclosed at check-in. They also left two bottles of water, which was nice. My only other complaint was that the refrigerator didn't work and there was no microwave. The half-glass walk-in shower was fine, but the showerhead needs pointing down or water gets all over the floor.

The only good thing is that the people working there are really nice. The building is old and oppressive, with no balconies and a dirty indoor pool. The gym has just a few free weights, and outside there's trash everywhere. Watch out walking around, too, because you could fall into a pothole or a crack in the sidewalk. The area feels like a dirty ghost town. My bathroom door was literally off its hinges. There was a constant fan noise, and the air conditioner and heater were impossible to operate. The room was old and dingy, with no artwork except a faded print propped on a table. Just a big mess. I gave it five stars because those reviews always show up first. People need to read this.

It's okay, but it doesn't have the amenities I expect at this price. There's no microwave in the room, the coffee station was poorly stocked, and breakfast was too limited for the number of people. They ran out of food, and the station is small. Better to lower the price and skip breakfast if they can't provide enough.

I was charged $250 on my credit card and wouldn't recommend this hotel. The manager told me the charge was for smoking in the room. I politely explained that no one smoked in there. When I wanted to smoke, I went outside by the side of the building, where there was a video camera and I frequently passed. I asked them to review the footage. My bank didn't approve my dispute, and I also tried contacting someone above the manager I spoke with, but got nowhere. They took my $250 and accused me of something I didn't do.
