JW Marriott Atlanta Downtown

The worst problem hit on checkout day. I couldn't find my car keys and spent almost an hour searching and panicking before asking the front desk for help. They told me housekeeping had accidentally taken them while cleaning. No one offered anything to make up for the hassle, and it threw off my plans for the day. I was there for three nights, but my room was cleaned only once. It felt stuffy and aggravated my allergies, and the dining choices were limited with inconvenient hours. This stay didn't meet JW standards and was very disappointing.

I came into the hotel bar to cool off after a rough day in the summer heat, and the hospitality was phenomenal. Thanks to all the staff, especially Debbie and Clifton. In a restaurant and food scene that feels like it's declining, they were real gems and showed me a level of service I don't see often. Thank you.

The staff and rooms were lovely, but the incidental fee was a shock. I stayed four days and three nights and was charged an extra $296 a night, for a total of $888. That was more than I'd initially paid for the room. I've stayed at all kinds of hotels over the years, and this was the biggest incidental charge I've seen. A typical hold is $50-100, so be warned that the bill here can be much higher. For anyone planning a stay in Atlanta, there are nicer hotels with a luxury feel.

The staff were great, friendly and polite, but the valet operation seemed disorganized. At one point someone nearly hit our car because parking spaces and the process weren't clearly organized. The pool was closed, and even the area for enjoying the view was off limits because of the weather. There wasn't any rain, just some thunder. The whole hotel smelled strongly of weed, from the lobby and elevators to hallways on every floor. It seemed like they were trying to mask it with fragrance, without much success. The rooms appeared to have been renovated, but the work felt poorly done, with small details ignored and existing problems seemingly painted over. For the price, it felt unbelievably overpriced. Breakfast wasn't included either. I wouldn't call this a luxury Marriott stay, and it was one of my most disappointing Marriott experiences so far.
