Moxy Atlanta Midtown

We enjoyed the stay itself, which was fun, comfortable and trouble-free right up until checkout. We’d booked three nights through Costco Travel and paid in full, but the front desk first tried to charge us another $730. I showed the agent our confirmation, and after some back and forth she said she’d charge only the $114 parking fee and email the corrected receipt. The receipt we got at home did say $114, but the card charge was actually $429.87. I called the hotel and was told someone would investigate and call in ten minutes. No one did. A few days later I called again and spoke to the manager, who said he needed ten minutes to process a refund. I still have no refund and no update. The wrong charges, lack of transparency and poor follow-up really spoiled what had otherwise been a pleasant visit. I hope they fix the billing and customer service process, but I won’t return.

It was clean and reasonably priced for the location, and the room itself was fine. There were a few odd details, though: the toilet seat was loose, the barn-style bathroom door didn’t offer much privacy, and the room door was strange. Its upper glass panel was covered with contact paper, but light still showed through gaps around the edges from outside.

The biggest headache was parking. The garage isn’t owned by the hotel, and although you’re supposed to scan in and out, it failed both times I tried. Staff said I needed to call the desk so they could email the parking company confirming I’d paid, wait at least five minutes, then go back to the entrance and give my name and room number. Calling the desk just disconnected, so I had to park again and walk inside to explain. Another guest had the same problem that day, and staff said it had kept happening. It happened to me again the next day, and I’d read online that it wasn’t limited to those days. I hope they find a fix, because the parking really got in the way of an otherwise great stay. I spent a couple of nights here for a New Year’s staycation, and Moxy was a lovely place to do it. Everyone I dealt with before arriving and at check-in was welcoming, including QD, the first staff member I met. Check-in at the bar was easy, and I got a free drink voucher, plus breakfast buffet vouchers for the hotel next door. I’m not sure how often they offer those, but it was a nice extra. There’s also a better-than-average coffee nook in the lobby. The lobby has the bar in the middle, plenty of different seating, games like giant Jenga and Connect Four, a small snack market and cute spots for photos. My ADA room was clean, chic and minimal, with a nice shower and a great city view. I liked the room layout, the bed was unusually comfortable for me, and the TV let me sign into streaming services like Netflix. On New Year’s Eve they had a lobby party with free bites and champagne. I liked the food, music and atmosphere. Apart from the parking, the whole visit was excellent.

Marva and Shanika from the A-C & Moxy Team gave us wonderful attention, from the early planning right through hosting more than 100 wedding guests. They kept offering help even after our guests had left, and the whole staff brought such positive energy. It was a fantastic wedding weekend, with the hotel facilities and venues, restaurants and entertainment all within walking distance. We’ll remember the Moxy Bar, the welcome bags at check-in, and how convenient South City Kitchen and The Wimbish House were. We couldn’t have asked for a better setup. Thank you!
