Omni Atlanta Hotel at Centennial Park

The room itself was pretty nice, but the other hassles weren’t worth it. When we arrived around 4, about 100 people were waiting beside the front desk for rooms, and some had checked in as early as 8:30 that morning. I understand not getting a room before 4, but we checked in then and still waited in the lobby until 6. We had an awards dinner at 6, so my wife and I had to change in the lobby bathrooms. Our room wasn’t ready until we got a text at 7:10, and it wasn’t the King room we’d booked. They put us in a double. They have lots of conferences and don’t seem equipped for the crowds. If you don’t have to stay here, I wouldn’t.

I’ve stayed here twice for concerts nearby. Tiffany at reception was friendly, welcoming, and helpful with my questions, and both times I checked in on time without any trouble. The room was spacious and clean. The food was good, though nothing special. My breakfast package caused some confusion when I tried to use the included breakfast, but they sorted it out. Parking is expensive and valet is the only option here. The north tower valets were very nice, though in my limited experience the south tower attendants were pushy about parking there when I was dropping off a guest.

My first visit to Atlanta, and the OMNI was packed with a skills competition that weekend. Even with the long check-in line, the staff took their time answering questions, and the kids there for the competition were respectful and excited. Tiffany Ellis was especially sweet, welcoming, and helpful, with a beautiful smile. Before check-in I left my luggage at the station in the north tower, where a very nice gentleman gave me a ticket and directions to the south tower lobby. The two towers can make things a little confusing. Once I got my room key, Tiffany arranged to have my bags sent up, and Hassan brought them just five minutes after I reached my room. He was friendly and welcoming too. I have to change hotels for the rest of my stay, but I hope the next one is as awesome as the OMNI. They have big shoes to fill.

The staff were great, and the location worked well for us, though it’s in a very crowded, high-traffic area. We were woken up by doors slamming constantly and teenagers running up and down the halls. If you want peace and quiet, avoid a cheer weekend.
