Residence Inn By Marriott Buckhead Lenox Park

The hotel was clean, very nice, and freshly renovated, but the staff need better training, in my opinion. It took them half an hour to find my reservation. Then the front desk woman confirmed two nights, but the next morning housekeeping woke me up because they thought I had to leave. I had to explain that I was staying and spend more time at reception. The no-smoking policy also means people have to walk five minutes away from the property for a quick smoke, which drives them nuts. Update: the manager cleared up all the issues I had.

The lobby was nice, and the staff were fine overall, but I don’t think I’ll return. My unit felt quite old, and I couldn’t tell what had been renovated. I’m not even sure the HVAC was working properly. There was only one elevator, and after checking in with staff you had to go outside, then back in, to reach it. That was a hassle with multiple bags on a cold, rainy day. The entrance wasn’t obvious either, and my driver had to circle around before finding it. A clear sign would have helped. The location was convenient for my business trip, but it wasn’t the best hotel choice.

Good rooms, but the morning employees didn’t seem interested in helping. At 5:52am, as I was checking out, the desk guy was wearing headphones and playing on his phone. He said coffee wouldn’t be available for at least an hour. I asked for ice water instead, and he couldn’t provide that either.

By the third stay on torture island, I asked management about the hot water. She said it had been an issue for a while. So they know and still aren’t doing anything? No voucher for a snack or points for the trouble, either. The place looks beautiful after its recent remodel, but that feels like lipstick on a pig. Starting at 4:30 every morning, trucks empty dumpsters at the business behind the hotel for three hours. Then the HVAC kicks on screaming, and even the low fan setting blows the blankets off like hurricane-force winds. There’s no chance to sleep in, and don’t expect a warm shower either, all they have is cold water. I did have the pleasure of staying during the remodel. All that glitters isn’t gold. Ya suspect Marriott! DO BETTER!
