Residence Inn Atlanta Buckhead

The kitchen was nice, the two bathrooms, including one upstairs, were clean and really nice, and the bed was super comfortable. I was impressed, especially after hotel hopping around Augusta and Savanna. My brothers surprised me with a live NFL game while we were vacationing as a family, then we stayed here after the game because one of them had an early flight. Breakfast was the standard fare, just what I expected. The location seemed nice but busy, and my brother described it as a sort of high-end area. It rained, so I didn’t explore much during our overnight stay. It feels like a business hotel, but I could see my family and me staying here again if we visit.

Avoid this place. We had to switch rooms twice because of the odor and carpet soaked with water. The toilets wouldn’t flush properly, the shower water was solid brown, so we skipped showers for two days, and the room Wi-Fi didn’t work. Breakfast was terrible, and so was the service overall. Homeless people were walking around the rooms at night and yelling in the street, and the area felt unsafe for families. For a frequent traveler who stays at over 40 hotels a year, I can easily say this is the worst Marriott property I’ve stayed at. It’s an embarrassment to the Bonvoy portfolio. Don’t stay here.

The front desk woman was super sweet, but night manager Justin was unreasonable. I had to argue on the phone for 20 minutes at 10pm just to get our reservation adjusted. The room was called a penthouse, but it wasn’t nice, just a regular room split over two levels. It was old and stinky, and the area and people felt sketchy. The shower wouldn’t drain, leaving me standing in a foot of dirty water, and my daughter got bites all over her legs. We were in room 924. People were walking around outside, and the place felt like an old motel that had been remodeled, maybe a Motel 6. Disappointed, and we won’t be back.

Stay away. As a Silver marriot member, I’ve stayed at a lot of marriots across the US, and this was by far the worst. Room one smelled like a rat had died in it. In room two, the TV didn’t work, the shower head exploded, and the AC wouldn’t turn off. In room three, the TV wouldn’t turn off, and the toilet clogged from me peeing. The tech unclogged it, then left dirty towels on the floor for me to pick up. The staff were great, which is the only reason I gave it one star.
