The University Inn at Emory

This place needs a total overhaul. It’s old and dirty, three floors with no elevators. The staff are new and didn’t know much. I had a complaint on Friday, but the manager wouldn’t be in until Monday. Asking for the laundry room code, 1234, was no help either, it took two days to get it. The room phone had no cord attached, so there was no point trying to use it. Worst place ever, don’t waste your time.

The staff are super friendly, and the building has a historic feel, though it’s dated. It’s a cheap hotel, with big but rather empty rooms laid out like a motel. The furniture feels like it’s from the 70s, and the TVs are old 32inch screens. Rooms have microwaves and apartment-size refrigerators, usually tucked away inside a closet.

For a budget motel, this was pretty good overall. The room was large, with plenty of space, and the area felt safe, right across the street from Emory. It’s older, and while there wasn’t anything bad like hair in the shower, it clearly needed a good cleaning. There was also a hole in the wall. Book on the motel’s website rather than through a third party, or they charge $7.50 per night for parking, which makes no sense.

There was lots to do within a short walk, and the staff were friendly. Our room was clean, affordable, and bigger than we expected. We had a delightful stay and highly recommend it.
