Last year, our stay here was really good, apart from the small water heater being inadequate for a two-bedroom unit. This time has been the opposite. We first booked a full week and got a confirmation, then were told by phone we'd have to move rooms twice, on Tuesday and Friday. Atlantic Beach Realty said they could offer one room for the week, but it cost 50% more. I later found a Tuesday-to-Sunday option on the property website for only 10% more and called to confirm it would be one room. They said yes, but couldn't give me a clear answer about why they couldn't adjust my original booking to require just one move. I canceled the first reservation and booked the new one online, then printed the confirmation. An hour later, I received a handwritten credit card receipt for about $40 more than the confirmed total. When I called, I waited a long time and was told someone would call me back. The receipt also had a small note saying roof replacement was underway across the complex and the outdoor pool would be closed through April 2026. I only saw that after paying and being charged extra. I don't know whether that's lawful in North Carolina, but it doesn't seem right. I doubt this will even get published.
