Best Western Atlantic City Beach Block

The worst part happened the morning of my daughter’s cheer competition. She slipped and fell on the first floor because staff were mopping with no wet floor signs. They apologized, but she was hurt and shaken, and had to compete less than an hour later. Only one ice machine in the whole hotel worked, so late at night we went from floor to floor looking for ice. I booked this for the competition and was very disappointed. The front desk staff were friendly and check-in was quick, but that was the highlight. The first room smelled like smoke, the carpet hadn’t been vacuumed, the toilet and fridge were dirty, and the bed sank badly when sat on. We were moved to another room with only two towels and one washcloth. When I called, I was told they were out of washcloths and I’d have to go downstairs to get more towels. Parking at the hotel cost $25 per day, even though there was ample, cheaper street parking nearby. The TV didn’t work, and no one showed up after I was told someone would fix it at 10pm. The advertised breakfast “buffet” was misleading. It was a very limited continental breakfast, with dry, rubbery precooked sausage patties and eggs and few options. Between the cleanliness problems, poor follow-through, misleading amenities, and serious safety issue, the stay wasn’t worth the price. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel, especially for families or people traveling for competitions. I honestly don’t think I’ll book with another Best Western.

The heat made the room unusable for me. The A/C was off, it felt well above 100 degrees, and there was a mildew smell. Staff told me the hotel doesn’t run the A/C and the sun warms every room through the day. After long flights and trade shows, I needed somewhere I could actually rest, so I had to leave without staying. They kept the full payment and wouldn’t offer a refund or even a credit. I contacted Best Western corporate too, but the property still wouldn’t budge. A 3.7 Google rating already suggests guest experiences vary, but you still expect the basics. The hotel and corporate office both left me feeling they wouldn’t stand behind the brand. Policies are policies, but keeping the money when the room couldn’t be used is awful customer service. Here’s the one-star review. I’m sure they don’t care anyway.

I was charged for parking even though I was a hotel customer. The cleaning product smell was so strong that I couldn’t sleep well, even in the breakfast room. During my four-night stay I asked them to clean the room, but after that I didn’t want it made up again because I didn’t want that smell back.

We were worried all night that someone might break into our vehicle. The $25 parking charge was for an open lot with no protection. There were loud arguments in the lot at all hours, and many unhoused people moved around the area at night. It’s near the boardwalk, but this part of town is run down and feels like the worst area. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.
