Harrah's Resort Atlantic City

The restaurant and fast-food staff were consistently friendly, polite, and helpful. Paige in the kids’ area was especially kind to my children, and Diane, our breakfast server, was upbeat, professional, and attentive. Their service was the highlight of our mixed family stay at Harrah’s. The room side of things was disappointing. Although we'd paid for the night before, we waited about two and a half hours for a room. With children and luggage, that was frustrating, and we expected it to be ready when we arrived. The first room smelled strongly of cigarette smoke, a serious concern because my children have asthma. The second smelled the same, whether the smoke came from another room or the ventilation system. There was hair on the sheets, and the bathroom floor looked dirty, with stains that seemed unsanitary. We asked for housekeeping help rather than keep changing rooms, but no one came.

The valet wait left the worst impression from my recent stay at Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City. When we were ready to leave, it took about an hour and a half to get my car back. I paid extra for valet expecting an easy departure, but I would have been on the road sooner if I'd parked in the garage myself. Ninety minutes to retrieve a car after paying for the service is unacceptable, and I want an explanation and appropriate consideration for the inconvenience. I was in Atlantic City for a bachelor weekend with my future son-in-law and his father, and we enjoyed our time together. My other frustration was trying to use my Caesars Rewards benefits. Several employees said I could use them only in limited ways, but no one could explain clearly. As a loyal customer, I found that disappointing. Harrah’s should review both valet operations and how it explains rewards to guests.

The room was reasonably fair for the price, and they were nice enough to give us a smoking room. I didn't mind that, apart from the horrible weed smell coming from other rooms where people seemed to smoke all day and night. It was a rowdy floor, too, with what sounded like an all-weekend party on Floor 9. Getting luggage in meant a considerable walk. For a big chain, I expected service to be a little better, especially since it was our honeymoon and they knew that. The rooms were somewhat dated. Housekeeping never came, and when I asked for fresh sheets because mine had bloodstains, they said it wasn't their room so I couldn't have them. The pool costs extra and was extremely dirty. The hot tub bubbled for a second, then stopped. There was trash by the elevator for two of our three days. The casino felt like a rip-off: I put in $400 and lost it all, with no player card rewards, just 35 cents in free play after spending $400.00. A regular 20 oz soda bottle cost $5.$0. It wasn't totally horrible, but these things were a letdown.

The waterfront view was a great extra, and the room felt fresh and comfortable thanks to its new furniture. I was there for a business trip and found the stay relaxed and convenient. A pleasant place for work travel if you're after a comfortable, modern-feeling room with a nice view.
