Quality Inn Flamingo

The front desk person was polite and helpful, but our stay in room 221 was awful. We checked in 1/17 and left 1/19. The room was freezing because the heating system was unplugged. It took about three hours with it set to 90 degrees before it was tolerable. We ordered food from the menu in the room, but couldn't enjoy it properly while wrapped up in coats and blankets. After checking out, my sister and I realized we'd been bitten by bed bugs. I'm disgusted just thinking about it.

Housekeeping and maintenance were great, but the front desk didn't deliver the promised service and treated me disrespectfully. Veer called me “gramps” several times, when “madam” would have been enough. Better yet, he could've used my name, which was on the paper in his hand. I booked a handicap room and confirmed it in several ways before arrival, including an email confirmation from Quality Inn. I was given a regular room instead, with a high tub and a preschool-height toilet, so I had to move while in pain. I was left out in the cold twice, also in pain. The desk person who was supposed to help left items in the fridge twice. My keys didn't work, and when they did, it took 10 to 30 swipes. Maintenance found the same problem and replaced them once. They hadn't been near my phone or anything. Maintenance also fixed the TV, and eventually the ice machine, which had been out of order for three days. He said the desk hadn't told him until then. I left a day early and my credit card shows an overcharge. I've called twice. Booking.com acknowledges a credit, but my card still shows too much. Why? This was and is a nightmare.

The breakfast area was clean and had good food choices. Our assigned room's door didn't work, but the front desk clerk “Vir” (sorry if that's spelled wrong) walked us up to make sure the replacement room was okay and everything worked. He was kind and helpful, and the room was clean and comfortable.

The location was good, within walking distance of the boardwalk, and it was quiet. The front desk guy was pleasant. Still, I wouldn't stay again unless it was an emergency. It's a motel that looks just decent enough to call a hotel: parking is very limited and the rooms are tiny. The toilet didn't always flush completely, the remote didn't work, and the TV was stuck on channel 2 showing colorless static like a big-backed TV from the 90s. The curtains don't fully close, so anyone passing by can peek in.
