Comfort Suites Auburn Hills-Detroit

I’ve never had a hotel stay this bad. The room looked nice at first, but the TV didn’t work, the toilet was plugged, and the heater barely worked. They moved us so we could use the bathroom, but the shower in the new room was only lukewarm. In the morning, getting down the hall meant weaving around housekeeping carts while staff walked around talking on their phones. The stairwell and elevator smelled like marijuana, and there was what looked like vomit in the elevator. The hotel seemed clean otherwise, though the lobby had a strong weed smell. I don’t like posting negative reviews, but this needs fixing.

The staff were so lovely to my daughter and me when we came for her early gymnastics meet. Beds and towels were clean and neatly kept, and breakfast was decent. The indoor pool is there, but no jacuzzi by it or elsewhere for public use. One thing to know: the gym doesn’t open before 9, which may be inconvenient. You could ask the front desk if you can work out earlier, though, and they might be kind about it.

The beds were comfortable, and the rooms were surprisingly spacious, with two queen beds, room to move around, space for suitcases, and a couch, table, and coffee table. I was pleasantly surprised by how comfortable and convenient this 3-star hotel was in the Auburn Hills area. The bathrooms are tiny and worn, with not much room to hang towels; the sink being outside the bathroom was odd but okay. Breakfast was fine, with enough food and drink, though I might get tired of it over several days. I didn’t use the pool. Room cleaning seemed to happen later in the day.

The room smelled bad, the counters and floor had stains, and the shower had no warm or hot water. There was even what looked like a blood stain on the AC. The front desk staff were unprofessional. The hotel was filthy: a huge bag of garbage sat right outside the elevator, and housekeeping didn’t remove it until the next morning. Even then, the nearby garbage can was still full. The photo I took on checkout morning shows that can overflowing. Please don’t stay here. There are plenty of other hotels close by. Never again.
