Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Auburn Hills by IHG

The hotel is across the road and parking lot from Great Lakes Crossing Outlet Mall, an easy walk if you're careful crossing the busy road, or just a short drive. There are two Holiday Inn Express locations in Auburn Hills, so note that this one is on Baldwin Road. We stayed more than a week for our mother's 100th birthday. The desk team helped coordinate four rooms as family arrived and left at different times. Toni got us adjoining rooms with our granddaughter's family, and housekeeping was attentive throughout the week. Our rooms were comfortable and well kept. The granddaughters liked the indoor pool, and the adults enjoyed the well-equipped exercise room. Both are downstairs and reachable directly by elevator, so nobody had to cross the lobby in wet swimwear.

The rooms were spacious and clean, and the breakfast area was a nice place for us to hang out while we were in town for a soccer game. I did smell weed in the hallway on the way to our room, and for what I paid, this Holiday Inn wasn't worth it. There were about ten kids with us, walking around quietly. They went to use the computer in the business area, but the front desk woman told them no, so they left. The boys later sat quietly on the couch there, which can be unusual on a soccer trip, and she made them leave that area too. I know large teams can be a lot to handle, but they were being respectful this time. That experience is why I rated the service down.

Toni at the front desk made us feel at home. She was welcoming and went above and beyond to help us. The hotel was clean, the beds were comfortable, and breakfast had a great selection. I'd definitely stay here again.

The location is great for shopping, and the front desk woman was nice, but I won't stay here again. Our first room was filthy: disgusting bedding, a shower curtain covered in snot and boogers, and a shower head spraying everywhere except straight ahead. The replacement room was cleaner. Breakfast was missing about half the items. When we asked the man for more pancake batter, he was rude and said it would take him 20 minutes to refill the machine. The pool was cloudy and dirty, and there weren't any towels available.
