The heat barely works, there aren't enough plugs, and there's no kitchenware. I know exactly where I stayed, but the customer has to pay a $100 deposit for what? Kitchenware should come with the room, and there shouldn't be a charge for the set or that ridiculous deposit.

I will be reporting this hotel. I recorded the whole experience, and I won't let it go until action is taken. They treated me and my daughter wrong, then banned me after lying to the officers. I can prove I stayed in room 340, and I believe the manager knew he would have had to legally evict me. I had stayed longer than I was supposed to, but instead of showing understanding or empathy, he lied about my stay and had us removed. I had been going through things and stayed at Hometown about 28 days. I started in room 340, then moved to room 147 when I couldn't afford the amount for the other room because my purse was missing. I paid for the first night and an extra night in the room. My mom paid for two more nights, and when my purse turned up I made another payment. On Saturday I was due to pay again. I asked the woman at the desk for more time, and she kindly said yes. The other man had also been patient and helpful when my purse was missing. Around 11:40 pm, the older Black man called my room. The phone came apart as I tried to answer, so I had to plug it back in. Around midnight I heard banging on my door. It was just me and my five-year-old in the room, and I found it very inappropriate for a grown man to knock at that hour. I asked him to stop and said I'd come down, then got dressed and went to ask what was going on. He spoke aggressively and demanded payment. I said I understood he had a job to do, but that was an inappropriate time and he could have come in the evening. NICK the manager wasn't there, so I asked if we could handle it in the morning. He agreed. The next morning, I went down to speak with someone. The older Black man was still in the lobby. I told him to call whoever he needed to, because I didn't want my daughter and me out on the street. Another man said we had to wait for NICK ( The Manager ), so I returned to the room. Someone I know sent me $300 to extend the stay. When I went to pay, they said Apple Pay (Tap Pay) was having issues and asked for a physical card. I transferred the money to my bank, but was told it would take 1-3 business days to post, so I couldn't pay yet. They asked me to have someone send it again. I said no, since I had already had Apple cancel the payment once and couldn't do that again. They got upset and said we had to leave and check out. They contacted Oakland sheriffs. The manager told the officer I had stayed only a few days, though I'd been there over a month.

The TV still wasn't working when I checked out, and I never got the clean towels I asked for. I couldn't speak to the manager at checkout because they weren't there, so there was no compensation. It felt like nobody cared about the problems guests were having. I've stayed in over 100 hotels, including some bad ones, but this was the worst experience. There are plenty of hotels in Auburn Hills, so stay clear of this one. I booked a double room for four nights. On the first evening I wanted to watch TV, but it didn't work. The front desk man said he'd note it for repair in the morning. I said that was fine since I had a funeral to attend then and wouldn't be in the room. On the second day, the TV still didn't work, and the water was out too. They said the water problem was being worked on. The man offered another room, but there wasn't another double available. On day three, I went down to ask a manager about compensation. The assistant manager said the manager should be in the office in about an hour, but I had family business to handle and couldn't wait. I asked them to fix the TV and leave clean towels, and the assistant manager agreed. That evening neither had been done. I went down again, and the desk man seemed to have an attitude toward me because of their poor service. On day four I tried to see the manager, but they weren't in. I asked again for someone to fix the TV, and they wrote a note for maintenance. Still not working when I returned that evening.

Tim, the manager, is the most compassionate and considerate manager I've ever met. The staff work together as a team but feel like family, and they're the best group I've seen. They deserve awards for the care they put into their business.
