The room itself was clean, which mattered most to me, and it was also quiet. The pillows were another story: just two old, flat ones, so we bought replacements for our three-night stay. Outside, things felt a little rough in the evening.

We only booked because every other place was full when we came for a concert. After getting back around 2 a.m., we found huge, fast cockroaches, about the size of my thumb, running around. The sheets were filthy, and the rooms felt stuffy and smelled awful.

There were food scraps coming up through the sink when I ran the water, and the TV didn't work. The room was terrible. At $150, I'd rate it below zero if that were an option.

This is a small, simple set of rooms close to Auburn's freeway hub. The bigger issue is the people around there, many of them truly desperate and broken, which seems to be what Auburn is dealing with today.

The cleaning guy was helpful, and the manager seemed willing to help too. Still, they walked into a locked room we'd paid for without asking us first. The shower was broken when we arrived, so they had to come fix it. For such a steep rate, the whole thing felt unprofessional and left me uneasy about privacy.
