Rodeway Inn

I keep coming back to this motel for the clean rooms, comfortable beds, and friendly staff. The TV channels are good, and the location is handy, with lots of fast food and restaurants within an eight-minute walk. At night, the doors are locked too. The new owner has remodeled and repainted the place, and it's much cleaner and more comfortable than it was under the previous owner. The price is great, especially now that Motel 6 costs more for no reason. I'm really happy with the cleanliness, location, and price.

Being so close to Emerald Downs was handy for us, and the service and cleanliness were good enough that I'd stay again if I needed the location without paying a premium. The room was about what I expected from a three-star hotel. Some details suggested they're keeping spending tight. The box spring looked worn and dirty, though the mattress sheets seemed fairly clean. We needed two washcloths but had only one. They found another for us, and it turned out to be the last clean one they had. There didn't seem to be much money going into upgrades or amenities.

We stayed February 2-3, 2023. At around 1 a.m., someone came into the room and switched on the light. There's no safety lock on the door, so my partner had to blockade it. A few minutes later, someone tried to push the door open and got upset that we were confused in the middle of the night. They said we'd been booked into another room, checked our IDs and the key we'd been given, then suddenly said they'd made a mistake and left. I've never had anyone try to force their way in without knocking, especially in the middle of the night. We couldn't find anyone working in the morning to talk to, and we weren't refunded. We were too uncomfortable to go back to sleep that night. I wouldn't recommend this place.

Friendly staff, a mostly quiet and clean room, and parking right by the rooms. There aren't many extras, though. Our room had no iron or ironing board, and there was nowhere to sit for breakfast. They had instant oatmeal, muffins, English muffins, bread with a toaster, two kinds of cold cereal, coffee, and juice. The door also tended to slam without closing all the way.
