Clarion Suites Augusta

The breakfast was good, and the location was great, with restaurants within walking distance. But I wouldn’t stay again. The bathroom still looked dated after the renovation, and the tub in our first room was dirty, so I couldn’t take the bubble bath I’d planned. It was on the ground floor, which we liked, but we asked to move because of the tub. The next room had cigarette burns on the covers despite being marked non-smoking. They moved us again, upstairs, to a room that was a little better. When I asked for towels, I was told to leave the dirty ones out and they’d bring fresh ones, but no one did. I had to call the desk to get them.

For a $59 hotel, I was nervous about booking, but the place delivered more than I expected. The room was clean, it was quiet, and the staff were friendly. I had a great stay and would come back next time I’m in town for golf or kayaking.

We’d just had a pleasant stay at another Clarion Inn and Suites, so we stopped here when we needed somewhere for the night. We hadn’t researched it first, and it was a disappointment. Room 218 was oddly placed in the breezeway between the two sides of the motel, with no view or light. Getting ice meant going outside to the front desk, since the ice machine sign said to ask there. The neighborhood didn’t feel safe for that walk. Back in the room, the TV remote wouldn’t change channels, and the phone was dead. My husband pulled out the table, sorted through a web of cords, found an extra phone cord, and got the phone working. By then I didn’t want more hassle, so we watched whatever was on that channel. The wall switch turned off the TV too because the lights weren’t plugged into the switched outlets. In the morning there was water all over the bathroom floor from a leaking toilet, and the duvet was badly torn. We left without even staying for coffee. It wasn’t clean or comfortable, and I wouldn’t recommend it even for the price.

The carpet in our room was wet everywhere, and the comforter and pillows felt damp and sticky. There were roaches, the bathroom wasn’t clean, and the outlets and room phone didn’t work. The Wi-Fi was so slow it wasn’t worth connecting to. Friends staying down the hall had similar problems, plus their air conditioning didn’t work.
