Super 8 by Wyndham Augusta

The floor was filthy, with footprints crossing the swirled marks left by what looked like dirty mop water. There was also a dead roach on the main sink. This is an exterior-entry place, and the gap around the door threshold and sketchy lock made me feel unsafe. I slept facing the door with my weapon.

Absolutely awful, just filthy. There was black mold and it felt like a drug area. Roaches were around, the TV didn’t work for the whole two days we were there, and the toilet leaked whenever flushed. We were scared to sleep under the blankets, and my daughter was afraid to touch anything. Don’t bring your family here.

The bed is dirty, has burn holes, and makes a terrible banging noise. We’re trying to upgrade our room, but the service right now is below zero. We’re definitely looking elsewhere.

The room was usable, the sheets were clean, and I didn’t see bedbugs. Everything seemed to work except the shower, which only gave hot water, so I had to rinse off with a tub and bucket. For $60 a night, that was about what I expected. The neighborhood felt decent to me, with a Starbucks about 30 seconds away and plenty of things nearby. There were a few stains on the furniture, and I saw one or two “working professionals” outside. The building is a bit worn, but the area didn’t feel sketchy. At check-in and checkout, I’d take a quick video of the room in case there’s any question about the deposit. If you’ve traveled before, especially somewhere like the Philippines, this place probably won’t surprise you. It’s affordable and functional if you keep your expectations in check.
