Wingate by Wyndham Augusta/Fort Eisenhower

I stayed here regularly, but the manager was rude and nasty when I raised an issue with paint damage to my car from pressure washing the building. Before checkout, she'd told me not to worry about paying her yet. When I tried to explain what happened to my car, she got upset, told the front desk not to extend my stay, and rushed me out. Most of the time I cleaned my own room, and when I wanted it serviced I had to keep asking. She also said a late checkout fee was okay to pay later, then tried to make me pay it. DO NOT GET A RESERVATION HERE.

This place felt like a construction zone, not somewhere fit to stay. From 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM there was drilling, hammering, and workers shouting, so relaxing or sleeping was out of the question. The hotel smelled of paint and dust, and I was put on a floor that was under construction. Dust covered everything, and the fumes made it hard to breathe. To me, that went beyond an inconvenience and felt like a health and safety risk. Some construction workers also seemed to live at the hotel and made noise until nearly 3:00 AM. I couldn't get a good night's sleep, and it felt like management had stopped looking after paying guests. This was a complete nightmare. Authorities should investigate, and I strongly urge people to avoid the property. Stay here at your own risk, because management doesn't seem to care about your well-being.

The service was the main problem. After we asked to extend our stay, staff accused us of locking our own card, and the front desk was awful and unhelpful. We won't come back unless we have to. Breakfast had a poor selection and flat apple juice, and the air conditioning needs improvement for future guests. I hope the service gets better too.

Loose tiles outside the elevator felt like a real tripping risk and made me uneasy. The gym was open but so poorly ventilated it was uncomfortable to use, while the spa was closed with a sign blaming COVID-19, which seems outdated now. The room and hallway carpets looked at least a decade old, stained, and smelled terrible. The shower tub molding was peeling, and even the TV remote was sticky. The furniture felt like thrift store finds: rusted lamps with missing or dead bulbs left the room dim, the bed and pillows were uncomfortable, and the desk chair was torn and looked like it came from a dumpster. The stay was far below an acceptable standard. In my opinion, it shouldn't carry the Wingate name. "Loss Gate" would fit better.
