Hampton Inn Aurora Medical Center Denver

The gym was one of the best I've seen in a hotel, and both the lobby and rooms were clean and well organized. The location is the drawback. It's not very walkable, and within a mile in several directions there were lots of homeless people. I genuinely felt unsafe.

The room was clean and nice, so no complaints there. But after 20 years staying at Hilton in almost all 50 states as a Lifetime Diamond member, this was only my third negative review, and the service was subpar. The front desk attendant wasn't friendly, didn't acknowledge my Hilton Honors status, and didn't offer the Honors snack option. We were told Hilton rules allowed only one water or snack, not a second bottle. That was the first time in all our stays anyone had said that. We got to the room around 9 p.m. and had fallen asleep when the phone rang at 11. The desk woke us to ask whether we'd parked out front. I said no. They asked again whether I'd driven a particular make and color of car and left it there. Again, I said no. So much for a nice Hilton stay.

We came from the western slope for surgery at UC Health, and the staff were so sweet. I didn't catch the names of the two women who checked me in, but they were kind and helpful. Jamal gave us a warm smile and bright-eyed welcome when we checked out at 5 a.m. The new hotel had an amazing, spacious room, beds that were comfy as all get out, and a very reasonable price. Hopefully we won't need more surgeries, but if we do, we know where we'll stay, and we'll tell friends and family too. Thanks for everything!
