Austin Southpark Hotel

Update: housekeeping came in and changed the sheets, which had mold and stains between them. The room was clean when we arrived and had complimentary coffee, toiletries, and the usual basics. Housekeeping also took out the trash while we were away. We were on the 7th floor, looking toward a rooftop and the highway. The shower pressure was weak, and the blow dryer made a strange noise. Renovations caused a little noise here and there, but it wasn't too bothersome. Only the middle elevator was working, so it was slow and the lobby got crowded. We found the hotel through Expedia for Valentine's Day weekend. The price was fair and it was reasonably central for the places my partner and I wanted to visit. Check-in was easy, and our room was ready even though we arrived 30 minutes early. There was plenty of open parking out front. The lobby looked nice, and there was a pool plus amenities like a bar and paid dinner and breakfast.

We left a terrible hotel and felt at home here right away. The front desk staff were friendly and sweet, and booking through Expedia was no problem. They were remodeling, but kept us well away from the noisy floors. Parking was plentiful, with a roundabout for dropping off family or luggage. There's also lots of parking for a big group or conference. The mixologist and lively crowd made the place feel like a good time whenever we passed through, day or night. Our room was very clean, cozy, and a great size. It fit my boyfriend and me comfortably, even with all our luggage. It definitely wasn't tiny, LOL. We can't wait to return, especially in summer for the pool. This will be our Austin go-to.

The hotel was under construction, but my room was still nice. The staff were professional, and Heath at the bar really stood out. He was personable and treated everyone like family. I was so impressed that I'll come back because of him.

The conference space was comfortable, and the food was good. Still, the hotel has clearly been around for a while and could use upgrades. Some breakout sessions were in rooms that looked old, and the ballroom mirrors were patchy and dated.
