Baymont by Wyndham Austin University Area

On my last visit, they put me in a back room that felt fit for someone trying to get high, not a traveler wanting a clean, comfortable place to sleep peacefully at a reasonable price. I’d stayed before because the front-side rooms are fairly nice and the rates are low, but the rooms in back are trash. When I asked to switch rooms, dealers harassed me as I carried my things. There was little to no parking on the pool side. The room was spacious and clean, but I felt uncomfortable with the harassment from people I assume were other guests. I checked out right away, and the desk clerk told me I couldn’t stay at this motel anymore. Good riddance. I wasn’t planning on coming back. This isn’t a family-friendly motel unless you want to expose your children to multiple illegal activities.

I’ve relied on Wyndham for consistent quality, but this property was a complete disappointment. I wouldn’t recommend staying here. During my three-night stay, nobody cleaned my room, even though I told the front desk several times. Each day they promised it would be done tomorrow, but it never happened. The room was dirty from the start: a fingernail on the floor, a broken lamp that was never repaired, a used cotton swab stuck on the wall, a child’s bag of markers left in a drawer, stains on the lamps, dirty towels, and a spider the size of my thumb. At night the hotel felt unsafe, with people hanging around in the parking lot and a car alarm going off at 3 AM because of disturbances outside. I felt vulnerable. When I asked for compensation for the missing basic service, the front desk staff were disrespectful and dismissive. They said they couldn’t offer anything, not even an apology. On checkout day, the owner told me to “file a complaint with Wyndham because he didn’t care.” Completely unacceptable.

The other occupants were loud and unruly, like there was a rave in the hallways. At 3 AM, a woman banged on our door and begged to be let in. We felt unsafe and had to leave the property entirely. The room itself was awful too. The floor was so filthy that my feet turned pitch black when I walked barefoot, and the place smelled of smoke. There were ugly stains on the bed, making it seem like it hadn’t been cleaned properly in ages. It felt more like a shabby dive than a reputable hotel. I wish I could give it a negative star. Save your money and sanity, this hotel should be avoided at costs!

The beds had extremely dirty lining along the bottoms, and the room itself wasn’t clean. Checkout was okay, but the front desk staff need a more positive way of speaking to guests. The hotel advertised hot, ready continental breakfast on its website, but there wasn’t any, and the breakfast area was unsanitary. The rooms also weren’t as well put together as advertised. Extremely disappointing.
