The setting is a big part of what made our few days at Commodore Perry Estate so special. Its ten-acre grounds are peaceful and tucked near downtown Austin, and the mansion's architecture, interior design, and manicured gardens looked just as impressive in person as in the pictures. Everyone we met made us feel at home, and we really appreciated the hospitality. We loved the restaurants on site: excellent food, attentive staff, and outstanding cocktails made it hard to tear ourselves away to try Austin's many other restaurants. My wife and I will absolutely return for quick getaways from Houston. Thank you to all the Commodore Perry Estate staff for an unforgettable stay!

The gardens are beautiful, the property is phenomenal, and the design is lovely. The gym is well equipped, and the Mansion serves delicious breakfasts and lunches. We also appreciated that it's pet-friendly. From start to finish, it was a fabulous, relaxing stay. Every staff member was warm, attentive, and made a real effort to make things feel personal and special. It's hard to put into words how good the service was. I can't wait to return.

I stayed here with a group, and the food, facilities, service, and attention to detail were all in a class of their own. Meals were outstanding, especially breakfast at the mansion. The setting was peaceful and distinctly Austin, refined but relaxed, and every detail felt intentional, from the carefully kept grounds to the thoughtful design of the rooms. The staff were warm and professional, anticipating what we needed without getting in the way. For understated luxury, genuine hospitality, and an atmosphere that lets you slow down, this is the place, if you're willing to pay for it. The only addition I'd like to see in future is golf, tennis, or a spa on site.

I was hospitalized for seven days after getting home, had surgery and IV antibiotics, and was diagnosed with an E. coli infection. I can’t say for sure it came from the hotel, but I ate only on the property, left once, and didn’t use any other restrooms. I’d ordered room service most of my stay. My food was covered only once. The other times it came uncovered through public areas and along an outdoor path, and it was often cold when it arrived. I got sick the morning I was leaving. I stayed alone in February 2025 and paid $1200+++ a night, so the experience fell well short of what I expected. The bathroom lighting was so dim I could hardly tell if it was clean. Nobody helped with my luggage, and check-in didn’t feel welcoming. The front desk seemed indifferent. Valet staff were the only consistently courteous people, even though I didn’t have a car. Check-out went smoothly, and they arranged my ride to the airport promptly. I reported everything in the post-stay survey and heard nothing from management. I’m willing to pay for a five- or six-star stay when that’s what I get. At this price, buyer beware.

The bed was easily the best part of the room, very comfortable. The room itself was okay but dated, with old-fashioned mirrors and a shower that needs updating. The hotel feels more like a fancy bed and breakfast than a five-star stay, though it was relaxing and we had a nice time. For a true upscale experience in Austin, I’d choose Four Seasons. The mansion is lovely, with early 20th-century character and landscaped grounds out front. The location is excellent, close to downtown, restaurants, and entertainment. But much of the rest of the property is less impressive. There’s unused space, and as you walk downhill you pass smaller buildings that look like staff or storage areas and need repair. The area around the property also looks run down, with laundry hanging outdoors. When we were leaving, the septic tanks were being emptied and the raw sewage smell made for a rough last impression. Maybe we happened to be there on the day they do it each week or month. Service at the mansion for lunch and cocktails was decent, but not especially memorable for the price. Staff watched us struggle with luggage without offering help, and check-in at the small desk felt ordinary. The inn lobby is cozy, with a fireplace and antique furniture, but no drinks, coffee, music, or other amenities you’d expect at this level. Food choices are quite limited: there’s Lutie’s, with mostly seafood and some French dishes, and the mansion. We had to go elsewhere for Southern food such as barbecue or Mexican. There’s room to expand dining options on the property. The valet team were friendly, and the complimentary Mercedes house cars were a nice extra if you wanted to drive off-site. There were only three or four, so we had to wait for one, which we expected. We booked based on the cost and amenities and were underwhelmed by checkout after our one-night stay.
