Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Austin Northwest/Research Blvd

We had a comfortable, uneventful two-night stay. It’s a no-frills hotel in a good location, with friendly staff, spacious rooms, and a breakfast with great options. I just wish the TV had HBO Max. Our room faced the highway, right beside the building, but traffic noise was minimal. The window soundproofing worked well and never bothered me.

The location is handy, just off the freeway, but the rooms are small and the AC is noisy. Staff were rude and unhelpful. Breakfast was chaotic, with food laid out in a strange way that made it hard for several people to serve themselves and caused long lines. Staff couldn’t keep the food stocked, and the breakfast potatoes were overcooked, hard as rocks. A generally bad stay.

The staff were the best part of this hotel, and check-in was simple. The mobile key worked great. I was first put in a room on the highway side, which was a bit too loud for me, but they moved me to the other side without any hassle. Both the room and grounds were clean. I’d stay here again if I’m in the area.

We’d been driving all day to visit extended family, and although we hadn’t planned on staying in Austin, it got late and we needed to rest. I’d booked through hotels.com for the wrong check-in date. Javed kindly got us a room for the night, let us check in early, and waived the fee. We finally got some much-needed sleep and enjoyed breakfast. He also explained everything the hotel offered really thoroughly. Thanks, Javed, for making us feel welcome.
