Hampton Inn & Suites Austin Cedar Park-Lakeline

We had a great stay in a room with two queen beds. It was very clean and had plenty of amenities. Check-in was easy, and the clerk was friendly, patient, and personable. Awesome time, I’d happily recommend staying here.

The mattress made it really hard to sleep. It was lumpy and hard, and the next morning, when I checked out, the receptionist said I could have asked for another mattress pad. I’d arrived after 8 p.m. following a full day of driving and was exhausted, so I didn’t think sorting it out should have been my responsibility. She said they’d look into it but offered no discount. I told her the mattress needed replacing. I suspect they’d heard about it before, since suggesting a pad felt like an attempt to cover up how bad it was. This happened on Christmas Eve, and it wasn’t good at all. The room itself was clean and nice.

The staff member at the desk was very helpful, and the room was clean with a comfortable bed. I had to switch rooms because trees blocked almost the whole window in the first one. The next room faced an apartment building that was very close by, with a view into its windows, so I kept the blinds shut. The elevator carpet looked old, dirty, and unvacuumed. Since guests see it early on, cleaning it would help the hotel make a better first impression. Otherwise, things were fine.

The room thermostat only worked on and off, though it wasn’t hot outside, so we managed. The one in the laundry and ice vending area didn’t work at all, and it was very warm in there. The dryer on the third floor sounded like metal grinding on metal, was extremely loud, and seemed to have no bearings left, which felt like a fire hazard. We normally choose Hampton for the comfortable beds, but these mattresses didn’t meet what we’re used to and may need replacing. Aside from those issues, the stay was great, but it missed the Hampton standards we expect.
