Hilton Garden Inn Austin Airport

The bed was fantastic, and the room felt cozy and warm. We had dinner downstairs and loved it. We only planned to stay one night near the airport, not realizing a winter storm was coming. Thankfully our driver was from Chicago and knew how to handle ice, so we made it to the airport safely. It turned into a fun night despite the frigid weather.

The location is handy for both the airport and downtown Austin, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I also saw the manager pitching in all over the hotel. He wasn't great at making a Long Island, but his personality more than made up for it. I'd stay again.

The room had only lamps, which got annoying when I had to switch each one on or off, and there weren't any extra amenities. The front desk wasn't especially friendly either. I wouldn't recommend this location. It felt like ownership was being cheap and cutting corners. Breakfast cost $18 for just four items: reheated potatoes, dry sausage patties and some cut fruit. The shower and bath water was only lukewarm, though the sink got hot, so it wasn't a water-heater problem.

The room was clean and comfortable, and the ladies working during the day were excellent, so I can't complain too much about that. But I won't return, even after spending over $1500 and more than two weeks at this property alone to start 2026. I've been a Diamond member for over five years, and there are much better places in the area. A security guard drove up while I was smoking outside and asked if I was smoking weed. I said no, but he told me to leave the property if I was, even though I'd already said I wasn't. A minute later I went inside and he followed, walking right past my door. It left me uneasy and feeling unsafe. If he suspected something, he could see from his car whether someone was smoking weed. Management should look into different security, or tell guards not to approach and follow guests on suspicion. The front desk man on duty tonight, Sunday going into Monday, also seemed annoyed that I came down for a drink. And paying to park in an empty lot is just ridiculous.
