Hotel Indigo Austin Downtown - University by IHG

If you’re planning late nights out at bars and clubs and won’t be back until 1 or 2 a.m., the location works well. It’s right downtown and beside a really cute outdoor bar. But bass from that bar gets loud in rooms on that side, so don’t stay here if a good night’s sleep is a top priority. The rooms are nice, though the hotel gets a lot of traffic and could use a refresh soon. It’s a good fit for a weekend of partying in the city.

The hotel and its staff were great for a weekend trip to Austin with my wife. I also appreciated that it welcomes dogs, and there was actually some grass nearby for them. What brought the rating down was the $45 hotel parking fee. I think parking should be included in the room price rather than charged as an extra payment when you arrive.

I usually avoid downtown hotels, but trying Hotel Indigo in Downtown Austin changed my mind about the headaches of staying downtown. The service was attentive, the doorman was welcoming, and I loved having a Lavazza machine in the room. The rooftop pool and bar were nice, and there’s a good exercise area. The restaurant’s burger and fries were delicious, and I’d recommend eating there at least once. Austin has a homeless issue, which I hope people in need get help with, but I didn’t see as many people in the area as I’d expected from reviews I’d read. The location is handy for walking to local eateries, including Stubb's across the street. One thing to know if you pay for the garage in advance: give the front desk your license plate number. I hadn’t realized I needed to do that, unless I missed the note, and had trouble getting out each time, so I had to call for help. Thanks to Hotel Indigo and the staff for a great stay. I’ll definitely be back!

I’ve had a wonderful stay, and the restaurant service has been so good. Everyone is sweet and attentive. A big shout-out to Vanessa, who’s just the sweetest and makes an incredible espresso martini. Looking forward to staying here again.
