Hyatt House Austin/Downtown

The rooms were a real strong point, clean, roomy, comfortable, and well kept, and the location was good too. The pool disappointed me a little: it’s small and doesn’t get much sun, so it wasn’t somewhere I wanted to hang out. Drinks at the bar were good, but the cheese sticks were undercooked and came with a sauce that looked more like ketchup than marinara. Still, it was a solid stay, and I’d probably come back.

We had a nice view of the Texas State Capitol, which was especially lovely in the evening. Breakfast was basic but fine, and the kitchenette was useful for our few nights there. The spacious, well-designed room made this a comfortable place to stay while exploring Austin. Downtown highlights were close enough to walk to, yet the hotel still felt relaxing after a busy day. A dependable base for a Texas road trip.

The friendly, outgoing staff were the highlight, and breakfast was good too. It’s a nice hotel close to Sixth Street, if that’s where you want to be. There’s glassware in the rooms for drinks, and it’s dog friendly. The only drawback was noise from the bars behind the building. We parked on the street and saved the $45 fee, which worked out for us.

Hans at the front desk was fantastic when my wife and I came for my birthday weekend. The room was clean, spacious, and comfortable, and the soundproof windows kept things quiet enough for a great night’s sleep. We also had a beautiful downtown view. The location is great, with everything nearby within walking distance. We’ll be back.
