Motel 6 Austin, TX - North

Years ago, this spot wasn't somewhere you'd want to stay, but Rundberg and IH35 are improving, and this motel's a good example. It's quiet and well lit, and the employees are really nice. The rooms are clean, the beds have fresh sheets, and it feels like a safe place to relax. It's pet friendly, too. This is by far the best Motel 6 in N. Austin, and it's more affordable than almost anywhere else in Austin. Compared with other motels in the same price range, Motel 6 north is WAY better than those nasty places. You don't need to worry about your car here. Construction can make the access road traffic a hassle sometimes, but it's manageable and worth it. Come check it out, you'll be glad you did.

The hotel itself is definitely out of code, but you get what you pay for. My earlier review was only positive because Elizabeth said I could get a discount if I gave a 5-star review. I'd already been staying here about a year, and she told me the hotel had a one-star rating without those five-star lies and reviews. The regular front desk staff were kind and helpful. Keisha, Mari, and Ricky especially stood out as helpful, knowledgeable, polite, and attentive. Ricky hadn't even been there long but had already made a good impression. A team like that is a breath of fresh air, and their kindness made the stay feel good. But Elizabeth, the assistant manager, is prejudiced, rude, and disrespectful. If you're not a man, or if you're a Black or brown woman, she'll give you a hard time. I saw her speak to several Black or brown men who didn't speak much English as if they were children. In my experience, if she thinks a Black or brown person is intelligent, she feels threatened and tries to make their stay miserable. I don't recommend the hotel because of her. She shouldn't work in a job dealing with people from different cultures. I hope God helps her change that behavior, and that nobody else has to go through what I did. Motel 6 corporate should make an undercover visit to see how she treats people. It's disgusting, unprofessional, and unnecessary.

Alexis made booking easy and stress-free. She was so sweet and patient, answered all my questions, and never made me feel rushed. Genuine customer service like that is rare. She was amazing and so helpful. Thanks, Alexis, for making the whole process pleasant!

The room was full of bugs and cockroaches. I tried to ignore them, but several crawled on me when I tried to lie down. I wouldn't come back or recommend the place. The south location is much better, and I made sure to add photos of the bugs in my bed. I arrived a few minutes early, and Elizabeth at the front desk said she'd check me in only if I gave the motel a 5-star review in every category and mentioned how helpful she was.
