Staybridge Suites Austin North - Parmer Lane by IHG

We had no issues with roaches or feeling unsafe, despite what several other reviewers said. The whole hotel was so clean I’d have been surprised to see bugs, and the area felt perfectly safe to us. It’s also right around the corner from Walnut Creek Park. My family of 5 stayed two nights, and I think we’ve found our “home base” for visits to Austin. The service was excellent, and the staff seemed very attentive to guests. Rooms were nice and felt better than a cheap hotel. Breakfast was excellent, and there was free dinner on m, tu, wed only. Both nights we had amazing food, more than enough for a full meal, with a full salad bar along with restaurant quality entrees. There’s a free lvl 2 EV charger, though it gives an error at first before it starts charging. Fantastic hotel.

The prices are very reasonable for the comfort and quality, and I’ve had a great experience every time I’ve stayed at Staybridge Suites in North Austin. The rooms are comfortable, clean, and in good condition, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. Zain at the counter was especially kind and helpful, making check-in smoother. My only complaint is that there were no facial soap bars during my stay. Everything else was great, and I’ll keep staying here whenever I visit the area.

The location was handy, near shops, restaurants, the freeway, and a Walmart, and the breakfast and evening food service employee was genuinely nice and professional. But roaches in the room made the stay miserable. I crushed a bug while doing dishes, then bought sticky traps and caught several baby roaches in the kitchen. Staff sent someone with Raid after I reported it, and he said he’d check again the next day. The spray left the room reeking, and there were more roaches in the traps when I got back from work. They offered another room, but I was leaving soon and had no way to know if it had the same problem, so I stayed and packed my things in plastic bags to keep bugs from coming home with me. At least there were no bed bugs in the traps. Only about half of the ten free washers and dryers worked. I would’ve rated this much higher and stayed again if they got the bug problem under control.

After two long workdays on the road, I was just using Staybridge Suites Austin North as a convenient stop on my way home. The happy hour had burgers and beer, though, and it felt like a proper meal and a fun atmosphere, not the usual hotel snacks. I hadn’t had that kind of food and vibe since college. Big thanks to the staff and management for making it happen.
