Sterling Motel

There was mold in the shower and on the bathroom window, blood by the sink, and broken glass in the window. The bed was so bad I’d rather sleep on broken glass. The whole place felt worse than a horror movie set in an abandoned building. I’ve stayed in plenty of motels across the country, and this was the worst. Save your money and sleep in the Walmart parking lot.

This place was run-down and filthy. There were bed bugs, a broken heater and shower, and a bathroom light that didn’t work. The walls were covered in substances, the carpet was ripped, the blankets had cigarette burns, and the plug was pushed into the wall. The Wi-Fi signal was poor and the front desk was rude. When we complained, they said we were lying. We’d booked a non-smoking room because of asthma, but got a smoking room. If I could give zero stars, I would.

I didn’t stay overnight. Mold and a bad smell hit me as soon as I opened the door, and I don’t see how a motel can operate with that kind of mold problem. I told the manager I’d check what other places were available. He said I wouldn’t find anything better because his family owned the other motels in town. I was glad to know that, and went straight to the Days Inn instead. It cost more, but it was clean and had no mold. I’d skip this one.

It can work in a pinch and the price is good for what you get. But if you expect a room without trash left by the previous visitor or hair all over the place from who knows what, you may want to stay somewhere else.
