Westgate Manor Motel Austintown-Younstown, Ohio

The location is really convenient for the casino, shops, and restaurants, and I'd happily stay here again. The hotel is getting old, but it was clean and looked well cared for. It felt comfortable and worth the price. I had planned to reserve through Priceline, then called the hotel and booked directly. Harry at the front desk was great. He arranged an early check-in, which I really appreciated, and immediately corrected a price difference. Fantastic customer service.

Awesome customer service and a nice place to stay. The rooms were really clean, with no bed bugs!!!!! I especially enjoyed showering, the different massage knobs were nice.

Some really nice people are managing this place.

I finally left a day early on 12/13/2023, after getting sick and itching badly in the room. I hadn't known I had allergies before staying at this motel. Even after the air and heating unit was replaced in December 2023, some buttons didn't work. When it rained, earthworms sometimes came onto the bathroom floor. Mold kept appearing on the walls and floor, and sewage came from under the toilet, which wasn't bolted down. The toilet leaked. They never took responsibility for anything. The bathroom was a mess in other ways too. There was no ventilation, the window wouldn't open, and there was no exhaust fan, so the shower curtain kept molding and mold was constantly in the shower. When it rained, water and sewage came from under the towel and spread across the bathroom floor. The towel bracket was glued to the wall and fell off. Water pressure in both the sink and shower was terrible, sometimes only a trickle or drips. I couldn't properly rinse a relaxer or do a skin or cleansing routine. Twice I drank faucet water and got diarrhea. The bathroom doorknob always smelled bad, even after cleaning. The rooms weren't properly cleaned. On my first day, the bottoms of my feet were black from walking on the floor. Behind the dressers and fridge and under the bed were dirty. The bedding was dirty and had cigarette holes; the linens made me itch, so I used my own. The pillows smelled like butt, cheese, smoke, and dirt, so I bought my own and felt they needed plastic covers. There was dust and dander throughout, and when I arrived there was dog or cat hair on the fridge, even though I don't own an animal or go near one. Everything was outdated, the room lights were extremely dim, and there weren't enough outlets in the rooms, bathrooms, or by the beds. There were also constant disturbances. The phone rang repeatedly, and whoever answered found different people apparently looking for someone. Some rooms had beds right next to each other, and you could hear wild noises. People banged on walls, argued, and fought, so a good night's sleep was uncertain. I mentioned some of the noise to the owner, but he brushed it off. This place is run like a halfway house, not a motel. It's not worth $70 a day or $410.13 a week. The office has a rules sign saying no guests after 9 pm and that an overnight guest costs an extra $20. Those rules aren't listed elsewhere, so customers don't know what they're agreeing to. Another item on the sign says cleaning on Wednesdays is mandatory. The floor was swept once, and the bathroom was never cleaned. For all the money I paid, being treated this way is not okay. The final straw was being blamed for the moldy shower curtain. The owner and his wife were always polite, but his daughter needs customer service training ASAP. She told me in the wrong tone that she needed that shower curtain every week, as if I were her child. She doesn't know me from Adam or Eve, or whether I'm mentally stable.
