Best Western Plus Hill House

The receptionist was excellent! The beds were very clean, but too soft for my back, which needs a firm mattress. If you’re like me, this might not be the right place unless they have rooms with different mattress options. My room had blinds instead of curtains, and they didn’t close properly, so daylight woke us very early. The perfume used throughout the hotel was too strong and unpleasant. A softer floral scent would be much nicer. The iron didn’t work right, though luckily I’d brought my own. For $130 a night, bottled water in the room would be a nice touch. The TV’s internet didn’t work, so only cable channels were available. Since I was there just one night and had brought extra amenities, it wasn’t a major problem. That was my experience. I think I’d stay again, but I’d ask more questions before getting a room.

We were passing through and stayed for one night. The room was comfortable, very clean, and everything worked. The woman at the desk was helpful and very nice, which we appreciated. We also liked that the parking lot is fenced and secure at night.

It costs less than most hotels in the area, and you can easily get to downtown restaurants and other things to do from the Best Western Plus Hill House in Bakersfield. Our room was clean and comfortable enough, and the desk staff were friendly. The elegant lobby and lounge make for a relaxing spot. There’s an on-site restaurant, Mango Haus, where you can pay for breakfast. Recommended.

The room and halls smelled like smoke, and I had an asthma flare in the middle of the night. We were put on the second floor, with no elevator. Being able to walk to downtown restaurants was nice, but I’m sure there are better choices. We paid $10 each for a breakfast voucher at the place next door. The limited menu was fine, and very kid-friendly.
