If you’re looking for danger, this is Bakersfield’s own Bates Motel 😅 There’s a Skid Row tent city right out front, plus furry bathroom vents, broken electronics, and bulletproof glass around the receptionist. Don’t stay here!

The manager treated me differently from other guests from the start. They spoke down to me and ignored my questions, then I saw them being polite and helpful to others right afterward. The difference was obvious and upsetting. They also made an offensive remark about my background. When I said how hurtful it was, there was no apology or acknowledgment, just defensiveness and arrogance. What should have been a relaxing trip turned into one of my most uncomfortable experiences. Nobody should feel unwelcome or judged for who they are. I hope upper management takes this seriously, because discrimination has no place in hospitality or anywhere else. I’ll never stay here again, and I’d urge others to be aware of how guests may be treated under this manager.

The staff were awesome, and the room was great for getting some sleep, fitting the Sleep Inn name. It was easy to reach the freeway. Bakersfield seems to have issues with homeless late teens, but the hotel and police managed things well. I’ll definitely stay again.

The rooms were clean and everything was in order. It felt like a safe place, and I definitely wouldn’t stay at any of the other hotels in this area. Don’t bring children to this area!
