After a 1.5-hour drive, I still couldn’t get my rewards card reprinted, and my date couldn’t get a new players card because she’d never been there before. I got sent from the first person to the pit boss, then to someone else, and then to a third person who was busy reading receipts. Nobody helped. We’d driven over three hours in total and wasted gas, and our first date night was ruined. No drinks, meal, or fun. I’ve never heard of a casino that couldn’t print player cards.

I went to Cafe Delphine in the casino and ordered the seafood platter. I asked the cashier if I could swap out the oysters, and she said no, which I understood. She wasn’t welcoming, though, and came across as dry. The fried fish and fried shrimp were really good. The stuffed crab and stuffed shrimp were nasty, with way too many bread crumbs. I only tried one oyster, and it tasted better than the stuffed seafood. I didn’t stay at the hotel.

Housekeeping does a good job keeping the rooms clean, but the rooms have clearly gotten worse over time. Paint is peeling from furniture and walls, and there are visible water stains on walls and ceilings in both the halls and guest rooms. On the first floor, the water pressure is extremely low, which made showering uncomfortable. There’s also mildew in the showers, a serious health concern. The property isn’t being maintained like it used to be, and the poor upkeep really affected my stay.

The rooms are crap, and the housekeeping isn’t good. Customer service and Cypress club members were rude. The slot machines are very tight, and you’ll barely win. I won’t be back.

The casino is a fun size for the area, and the connected bar was fantastic. The rooms were what we expected and seemed fairly clean. I had a great visit at Cypress Bayou Casino & Hotel. The bar may have been a little too much fun: at one point I was wandering around with my father-in-law’s lucky hat, listening to 1920s band music on my phone. Parts are a bit of a blur, but it was still a memorable, great time.
