Homewood Suites by Hilton Frederick

We stopped here twice, once on the way to our destination and again on the return. The first stay, the shower water never got hot. The second was much worse: stained sheets and couch, a cracked, dated, gross shower, and a dusty ceiling fan. Why use sheets with stains on them? With so many suite-style hotels nearby, including a town place suite across the street that I'm sure is nicer, I'd skip this one.

The property was clean and quiet, and we really loved the indoor pool. There are plenty of restaurants and other necessities close by, too. This was my first stay at this particular Homewood Suites, and the front desk staff made it feel comfortable from the start. We had a one-bedroom suite and needed linens for the pull-out sofa. They arrived within five minutes of my call, and the person wouldn't take a tip, saying it was part of the job.

Customer service was awesome, and breakfast was nice. The room itself needs a lot of repair, with old stains on soft furnishings that haven't been cleaned or replaced and crumbs in the desk chair. If you want to rest, avoid the first floor. Doors slam all morning and dogs bark.

We came to town for a wedding and couldn't check in earlier, so after the reception we arrived around 9 p.m. to a frustrating mess. I booked a one-bedroom suite specifically for the two TVs, so we could each use a separate room. The living-area TV didn't work, and since it was late there was nobody available to fix it. We'd been there only 30 minutes and were willing to change rooms or check out, but were told neither was possible without losing our nearly $300 rate. There were stains on the sofa, chair, and bathroom floor. In the morning, I found the coffee maker hadn't been cleaned, so I had to clean out the pod and pot myself at 5 a.m. Breakfast was cold and unappealing: waxy scrambled eggs, salty cold potatoes, no bacon or sausage, and mostly cold cereal. There was no fruit or yogurt in the fridge, and the small amount of oatmeal wasn't refilled. Other guests told me they also found stains on furniture and floors, and had to ask staff to clean before staying. The front desk clerk offered Hilton points, which I didn't want, then gave me a measly 10% discount. We don't recommend the property for either the rooms or the customer service. Thanks for replying, but two weeks have passed. I called last week to ask about my refund, and there's still no credit on my VISA.
