The beds were comfortable, there were plenty of pillows, and the woman on staff was very nice and helpful. The bathroom was nice too, except for what looked like a burn mark on the tub. Still, the hotel needs more cleaning and repairs. A window needed fixing, especially for windy weather, and a closet light switch didn’t work. You can hear through the walls easily. On my last night I couldn’t sleep because it sounded like someone was getting ready to sell drugs. There’s an awkward single track light above the bed. I had lots of luggage and enough stairs to make it tiring. There’s no elevator. Not great, but not the worst.

I liked the charm, and it was clean and fairly quiet. If you want something updated, this isn’t the place. Getting buzzed in felt odd, and the woman at the desk wasn’t especially friendly, though the two men I met later were genuinely nice. The carpet freshener smell was the only thing that bothered me. I stayed one night and would recommend it to travelers. We were out sightseeing most of the time, and I enjoyed using an actual key for the room.

The walk from parking to the hotel at night felt like an adventure, and there was nowhere close to park when I arrived. Inside, the room was freezing, and I couldn’t warm it up. With vents near the ceiling and ceilings at least 9 feet high, I ended up sleeping in my coat. The bathroom had mold and a broken soap dish on the shower surround. The light switches were filthy, the transition strip from tile to carpet was gross, and the carpet felt dirty under bare feet. There was even a fine layer of dust on the fake flowers in the fireplace. Staff were going to put me on an upper floor with no elevator and didn’t offer to carry my luggage. The night guy looked like he’d just crawled out from under someone’s crawl space basement. I’ll never stay or recommend it. Wish I knew how to attach pictures.

We changed hotels right away and gave up one night’s fee. The place was so bad we moved to Doubletree. Even at 150 dollars per night, it felt grossly overpriced. To get in, you have to ring a doorbell, which gave me the impression that the neighborhood was bad. While I was waiting for my parents in the car, a creepy man approached and stared at me. He kept coming closer, then left as soon as my parents returned to the car. The front desk attitude was horrible, and the furniture was old and gross. There’s no elevator, so we had to carry our 50 lb luggage up four floors. I can’t say enough about the front desk’s gross attitude. I don’t know how people give this place decent reviews.

It’s a bargain if you like a hotel with atmosphere. The suite was spacious, the bed and pillows were comfy, the water pressure was good, the wifi was excellent, and the staff were pleasant. The price was good, the neighborhood felt safe, and the place had a cool atmosphere. It’s an older property decorated with orphan "antiques". There are no elevators, so it won’t suit you if you have mobility issues or need one.
