Hampton Inn Baltimore Bayview Campus

The room itself was fine, but it smelled like dirty feet. I couldn't tell if it came from the carpet or somewhere else, and the sheets smelled clean. There was a large black bug and a big wad of hair in the pool, which also wasn't heated, though I don't know if it was supposed to be. We prepaid when we booked, and the place looked nice inside when we arrived. We were celebrating a special event and had booked a king room, but at check-in nobody told us they’d oversold those rooms. We found two queens instead. When I went to the front desk, they said they already knew about the overselling but hadn't told us. I asked for the manager to call after coming on duty at 9 a.m. the next day, but never heard back. I would've liked some kind of compensation. The good reviews are why we picked this place, but in my opinion the stay wasn't great.

The pool area was nice, and having a gas station right in the parking lot is great for vacation activities when I come back. It was closed while I was there. Around 10:20 p.m. on 2/27, I was in the lobby talking with my girlfriend when some random guy suddenly started getting mad at the desk person. That employee handled it really well. I was impressed by how patient he was and how he responded while the man spoke to him in such a demeaning way.

I'd stayed here several times before and always had excellent service, but this visit was so disappointing I left for another nearby hotel, where I was treated with respect, kindness, and a real willingness to help. On January 4, 2026, at about 3:50 p.m., receptionist Tylor was on the phone when I arrived at the front desk. From the start, she looked at me with obvious disdain. When I asked to check in, she answered rudely and dramatically that it had to be done online. I tried doing the online check-in at the counter in front of her in case I needed help, but she disrespectfully told me to move away. I said I was fine standing there and asked if there was an issue. She said there was because of other guests. There was nobody behind me except my companion, and I said I’d move right away if another guest came. Still, she refused, made unpleasant faces, showed clear contempt, and spoke to me in a deeply unprofessional way. The treatment and her continued refusal made me leave. It’s disappointing that one employee could ruin the good impression built up through my previous stays. I hope management addresses this, because no guest deserves to be treated like that.

Breakfast was adequate, and the front desk service was good. The back parking lot felt a little sketchy. Rooms were nice, though they could've been a bit cleaner, but they weren't terrible. At night, the hotel is secured so only guests with a key card can enter.
