Pier 5 Hotel Baltimore

Pier 5 Hotel Baltimore was a wonderful place to stay. Right by the water, it has beautiful harbor views and makes it easy to get to many Baltimore attractions. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, and the hotel felt elegant and relaxing. Staff were friendly, professional, and ready to help. Having Ruth’s Chris Steak House inside the hotel made the stay even more convenient. The restaurant was outstanding, with great food, a lovely atmosphere, and exceptional customer service. Between the hospitality, location, comfortable room, and dining, I had a memorable visit and would highly recommend Pier 5 Hotel to anyone visiting Baltimore.

I was so uncomfortable during this stay, and the service was unacceptable. The carpet was dirty, and breakfast wasn't worth the $50 for two people. I checked into a King Balcony room after 11:00 PM on one of Baltimore's coldest nights. The fitted sheet didn't fit the mattress, and the heat wasn't working. I told the front desk when the sheets were delivered, but nobody came to fix the heating. After several follow-ups, by 3:00 AM a staff member told me that since I'd been in the room so long, I should just "tough it out." They said nothing could be done until my boyfriend asked for a refund so we could leave. We were told we couldn't get a refund. Then they offered us a room with double beds instead of the King we'd booked, which wasn't an acceptable solution. I've tried several times to reach the general manager, Mr. Jackson, by phone, but he hasn't called back. I'm writing so someone knows what happened. I've accepted there won't be a resolution to our concerns, and now I don't look forward to your prompt response. Don't waste your money. You're paying for the location. Everything else sucked. This is our second stay here, and Tico once again gave us wonderful service, going out of his way to make sure we had a great visit. The breakfast was surprisingly good, with tasty food and pleasant smiles. The one thing to improve is the hot water, which could be hotter. Microwaves in the rooms would also make the stay more convenient and comfortable. We'll definitely be back, especially with the hotel right by the Harbor and so many shops and restaurants within walking distance.

The location was great, and housekeeping had cleaned the room well, but everything else was a mess. The front door was broken, and check-in was awful, the woman gave terrible customer service. The balcony was tiny, with a big puddle on a rubber roof-covering floor. When I stepped out to explore the city in 34-degree weather, water rushed over and soaked my only pair of shoes. The balcony sign said to keep the door locked, but the lock didn't work, so anyone could have entered our room. A side table was coming off the wall, and when I tried to charge my phone, the wall receptacle came loose too. It was an electrical and child hazard. They tried to put queen-size sheets on a king bed, and the carpet was stained. People were screaming about something in the hallway for half an hour at 1 AM. My husband leaned on the wooden railing by the lobby to look down, and that moved too. Just total yuck.
