Rodeway Inn

After an eight-hour drive and an unexpected extra stretch in Texas, all we wanted was a clean bed and a good night's sleep before our six-hour drive home. The room was disgusting. I brought up the cleanliness and the crickets to the front desk and showed her photos, but all she said was, “I know.” She wouldn't do anything. I don't recommend staying here.

The bed was comfortable, and we checked for signs of bed bugs, but I can't get past all the mold. The refrigerator was filthy inside and full of mold, and the microwave was dirty too. The bathtub was in horrible shape, the water pressure was almost nonexistent, and the chair's covering was flaking off and sticking to me when I stood up. We travel cheaply to save money for our trip, and I knew I picked a budget place, but everything in the room should still be clean. We didn't report it to management because I think they know what they're providing. Don't stay here. Sleep at the rest area farther down the highway instead.

I had a quiet, restful stay and would definitely come back. The family running this Rodeway Inn were friendly and accommodating, and I had no issues apart from the lack of customer laundry on site, which I had hoped to use. My room was clean, with no bugs, crickets, or other insects. The air and heat worked fine, the bathroom and tub were clean, and towels and toilet paper were provided. I also noticed a small breakfast bar at checkout. My experience was very good, despite the negative reviews I'd read.

The owner was personable, kind, and accommodating when we checked in, and room 134 was perfectly fine. It seemed recently updated with new carpet, paint, tub, tile, and TV. The room smelled nice, the sheets were clean, and the bed was comfortable. In the morning I told the owner everything was fine, and he said they were making upgrades. The dust people mention may be from remodeling and painting, and light fixtures are next on the list. I saw him picking up laundry from vacated rooms and getting them ready for cleaning as we left. He clearly takes pride in the business and works hard to improve it. A few things weren't perfect: the light switch didn't work, the bathroom door wouldn't fully close, and the exhaust fan was very loud. Still, it was a great room for the price and had what we wanted, a no-frills place to sleep. If we're in the area again, we'll stay there.
