The peaceful atmosphere was wonderful, and the decor had so much charm. I was especially impressed by the kitchen: I brought a few things to use, and the host had already stocked them. Every room showed care and attention to detail. We’re looking forward to coming back.

I booked through Booking.com for a 10-day work stay over Christmas and New Year’s, then realized it wasn’t near the place I needed to be. I contacted the owner through the app, by text, and by voicemail right away. After trying for two days, I finally got a reply. At first the owner said she couldn’t refund me because Booking.com would penalize her. When I asked how much the penalty was, she stopped answering. Cancelling through the app would have taken my entire payment, so I drove two hours to explain in person. Natalie told me she couldn’t refund any of the dates and said I had to deal with Booking.com. Their site showed that a refund request had been submitted and was up to the facility. She then said she didn’t know how to issue one, despite having already cited the penalty as the reason she wouldn’t. She also said she didn’t want to spend all day on the phone with customer service figuring it out, then suddenly said, “I got to go, I have kids in the car!” and left. Since I was there, I stayed the night. Around 3 a.m. something bit me under my armpit. I ran to the bathroom, lifted my shirt, and fell to the floor when I saw a bed bug. The property itself is pretty nice, but between the bed bugs and how I was treated, I do not recommend it.

The cottage and the town are both so cute. It was a quiet, private little place, and I loved all the Texas touches in the decor and furniture. Thanks so much for being such welcoming hosts. I can’t wait to return!

The whole place has a nice feel, with clean bathrooms, a full kitchen, and a coffee bar. The rooms were cozy and really clean, too. You can walk to everything in Bandera, including the shops and bars. I’d definitely recommend A Place to Stay if you want to be close to it all. See what I did there?

The location worked out great, just a few miles from downtown, and the host was so sweet and accommodating. It’s a cozy, clean little spot, just right for somewhere to lay your head. There was plenty in the kitchen for cooking or grilling.
