The friendly front desk staff, quiet room, comfortable bed with plenty of blankets, and immediate hot water were all good. It’s a historic hotel, so some dated features are expected, and the pricing is competitive. Still, with so many places to stay nearby, this experience wasn’t worth it. I’d arranged early check-in in advance, but it wasn’t available when I arrived. Housekeeping was unacceptable: crumbs on the carpet, an open prophylac-tic wrapper beside the trash can, a woman’s stocking behind a chair, and coffee service that hadn’t been restocked. The elevators are very old and have an unusually narrow entrance.

The location on Michigan Avenue is hard to beat, with shopping, restaurants, and iconic sights just steps away. Warwick Allerton exceeded my expectations. The staff were welcoming and professional, check-in and checkout went smoothly, and my spotless, comfortable room had a beautiful city view. Its historic charm works well with the modern amenities, making the hotel feel both elegant and practical. I left refreshed and impressed, and would definitely return to Chicago and stay here again.

The location overlooking the Magnificent Mile is fantastic, but that’s the only good thing I can say about this place. The hotel was filthy, smelled of weed throughout, and the staff didn’t seem interested in guests’ genuine concerns. There was dried blood on the sheets, pubic hair on the bathroom floor, dead flies, and grime and dirt everywhere. I saw housekeeping dragging bags of refuse along the floor instead of lifting them, with all kinds of stuff leaking out. There was dangerous black mould in the bathrooms. Stay away if you care about your health or feeling clean. This is possibly the worst review I’ve ever written. It was genuinely the worst hotel I could imagine seeing, and even a hostel would be better. The photos tell you a thousand words. Save your money and stay away.

The room was comfortable enough, and I liked the view. For the price and location, Warwick Hotel was a good find. Housekeeping also kept everything clean and in order. Check-in took a while, though, and there often seemed to be nobody available at the desk or elsewhere in the hotel. The stay was worth what I paid, but a quicker arrival process and more front-desk staff would have made it better.
