Table Rock Motel

The beach is gorgeous, with easy access and lots of large rocks. I’d definitely stay here again if we visit Bandon. The website photos really need updating, though, because neither the rooms nor the view look as good in the pictures as they do in person.

We stayed for more than a week and left unimpressed. Our room felt old and outdated, though it was spacious and had a balcony, a tiny fridge, an odd microwave, and a coffee machine. We weren’t on the ocean-view side, which was disappointing for such a long stay. We could hear nearly everything from the neighboring rooms, including footsteps on the staircase beside us, conversations, and TVs through the ceiling and walls. Housekeeping was inconsistent. We were told to hang a placard on the door for turn-down service. The first time, nothing had been done when we returned that evening. At the office, the woman working was on speakerphone with another customer, and we waited about 10 minutes before she acknowledged us. A quick “hold on a moment, please” would have helped. When we explained the problem, she gave us fresh towels, and service was done the next day. The next time the placard worked: they made the beds, took the used towels, and left fresh ones. But the last request was missed again. They need a better system, since the signs can blow away or go unnoticed, which is a poor excuse when there aren’t many rooms. Parking is extremely tight. If you have a larger vehicle, you may need to park on the street. There are electric chargers, and a ramp by the office helps housekeeping move items around, but the ramp takes up a legal parking space. I was trying to back into that spot when someone came out, opened their car door, and stood watching us. I waited with my reverse lights on, then said I was trying to park there. She told me I could use a different space since no one with an electric car was there. When I said I wanted to back into that spot, she pointed out that they use the ramp. I parked in the electric spot for the night. The next morning every space was full, including the one I’d tried for, so I ended up farther from our room. It was our last day, and we had to haul everything across the lot. We visit Bandon every year, but we won’t stay here again or recommend it. The hospitality wasn’t there, and the room quality was disappointing for what we paid. We paid the same nightly price at a motel in a nearby town and had a much better stay.

Our two-queen room had a beautiful ocean view, and it was spacious. Beach access is hard to beat. I only wish they had beach towels, or offered them for rent, but that wasn’t a deal breaker. We loved our stay and would definitely come back.

I meant to write this after staying a couple of months ago because the hotel treated me so well. Around six months earlier, I’d booked a night here for a road trip, but the person I was traveling with ruined the plans and I had to cancel my prepaid booking. The staff kindly gave me credit for that night, and when I used it months later, they remembered it. I stayed for two nights this time and had a great experience. The beach is about a two-minute walk away, the balcony was nice, the bed was comfortable, and the staff were very friendly.
