The location is convenient, only minutes from Acadia and downtown Bar Harbor, beside an Island shuttle stop and within walking distance of two good restaurants, BBQ and Bar Harbor Lobster Pound. That’s where the good points end. I paid over $1,000 for three nights. I booked it because it was the only place I could find with three consecutive nights open, and now I see why. I wasn’t looking for luxury, just to be treated like a valued guest and have a clean room for all three nights. We didn’t get that. We were moved through three rooms in three nights. After the first night, we asked to switch because animals were running around above the bed in the ceiling all night. We got another room for night two, but the next day, while we were hiking in Acadia, the hotel called to say we had “misunderstood” and couldn’t stay there for night three. We cut our day short to return and move our things again. The “manager” was dismissive and inattentive, and seemed not to care about the inconvenience. If water-stained ceilings, bare bulbs, broken towel racks and outlets, garbage views from the back window, or critters in your room sound okay, this might work for you. I highly recommend staying elsewhere.

I called a few days ahead because the earlier reviews had me worried. The front desk woman, who I assume was the manager, said the negative reviews came from disgruntled guests upset about not getting refunds when they left early, and assured me I’d enjoy my stay. When I arrived, I found those reviews weren’t wrong. The place was dated. My room had a smoke detector pulled out of the ceiling, uncovered outlets, peeling wallpaper, and a bed that sank when I lay down. The “free WiFi” didn’t work. There was one router in the office meant to cover the whole property, and I had to drive down the road to text relatives on the island. At least there’s a lobster pound across the street, and town is about ten minutes away. I wanted to be able to say the manager was right, but the photos can speak for themselves. I understand why earlier guests wanted refunds.

The rooms are older but clean, though there was some mildew in the bathrooms and the mattresses weren’t great. We had an emergency and could only use one of the two nights we’d paid for. They wouldn’t refund the unused night, but that is their policy, so I can’t complain too much. Just be aware of it. There’s a really good lobster place across the street, and town isn’t too far away. It was okay.

We had a two-bedroom room that worked well for us, and the location was very convenient for visiting the park. Everything was clean, though the room smelled quite musty. We barely interacted with the staff. We came during peak season, so the rates were high, and nobody mentioned breakfast at check-in, so we assumed there wasn’t any.

The room was basic but adequate, and the location made it easy for us to get to Acadia quickly. We arrived late and never saw any staff, but they kindly left our keys for us. In the morning, we found two windows unlocked and one actually open. We should have checked before going to bed. It had a real horror movie vibe, but thankfully we didn’t get unalived. It’s a cute little place, and I’d happily stay again. I’d just check the windows before turning in.
