Bar Harbor Cottages & Suites

We found this place through VRBO, though we’d probably book directly next time. The quaint two-bedroom unit had everything we needed, and the staff were attentive, with self-service available too. There were grills and games, plus space to relax. It’s about eight minutes from busy Bar Harbor and just around the corner from a great ice cream and seafood place with a boat out front, hard to miss.

The covered porch overlooking the water was a peaceful place to sit, and the property itself was very quiet. Our cottage was impressively clean, with really comfortable beds and good quality towels and sheets. When we arrived, Liz welcomed us and explained the self-service setup for getting extra soap, towels, toilet rolls, or tea bags. Joe had also been very helpful when I booked, since we didn’t know the island well. It’s close to both Bar Harbor town and the entrance to Acadia National Park. We’d stay again and recommend it.

We had a wonderful three-night visit with our dog. The cottages are a short drive from Acadia and Bar Harbor, and ours was clean with very comfortable beds. We cooked several meals on the two-burner cooktop and had all the cookware, dishes, and utensils we needed. We had to move our vacation up by a day, and the kind staff easily arranged for us to spend the first night in #4 and the rest in #7. Moving was painless, and staff even transferred our food between fridges so it stayed cold. I can’t say enough good things about the stay and the staff. We’ll recommend it to friends and stay again if we return to Bar Harbor.

The kids could play outdoors together while we grilled and sat by the fire pit in the evening, which we all loved. On our family’s first trip to Maine, the cottages were just right for us: quaint, clean, and staffed by friendly, accommodating people. I’d definitely return.
