Days Inn Bar Harbor

The water view was beautiful, and getting to the park was easy. Downtown was a short drive away too. The staff were nice, and the price seemed reasonable for a chain motel. Inside, the room was comfortable enough, though the layout was odd and a dehumidifier was running. The bathroom was roomy and the shower was nice. Parking felt tight, and we could hear people coming and going outside. Breakfast offered practically nothing. I wish I’d looked around more, since nearby non-chain places looked cute and charming.

The staff were really nice, and the coffee was good, but the breakfast was only packaged pastries, not much of a meal. We paid for a king and ended up with two rooms at the back, each with twin beds. The stairs from the office to the second floor felt dangerous, and the toilet seemed close to falling through the floor. There were extension cords everywhere because there weren’t enough outlets for charging things. This place needs repairs for safety, and what we paid wasn’t worth it.

We had a beautiful view of the water, right across from the ferry to Nova Scotia. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and they let us print parking passes for free. It’s close to the Bar Harbor shopping district and Acadia National Park, and the breakfast was nice. It’s dog friendly too 🐶. I visited in September, when mornings and nights could be chilly, but my room stayed comfortable. I’d book this hotel again if I return to Bar Harbor.

The view may be nice, but the mattress was awful. The whole thing sagged as soon as we lay down, not just a dip in the middle. I tried a one hour nap after arriving and could barely walk when I woke up. Before bed I rubbed ibuprofen gel on my back and hoped for the best. Four hours into the night, both my back and front hurt, like my organs had been rearranged. We’ve stayed in this area a lot, and this is probably the worst bed in all of Maine. Do your body a favor and choose another hotel.
